Kazakhstan is a country located in Central Asia. In the year 1991, it emerged as a country on the map of the world. Before that, it was part of 15 constituent republics of the USSR. The total population of Kazakhastan is around 2 million. Here mainly Kazakh and Russian languages are spoken. Kazakh is the national language here, which is spoken by almost two-thirds of the people. While Russian is the commercial language here. Kazakh is the language spoken by more than 1.5 million people all over the world. Kazakh is a Turkish language of the Turkic language family and a Turkic language similar to the Karakalpak and Nogoi languages. Apart from Kazakhstan, it is also spoken by some communities in China, Mongolia, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Russia and Iran. It is written in the Cyrillic script in Kazakhstan. Whereas Kazakh people living in China are written in Arabic-Persian script used in Uighur language. In 2006, Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev proposed to write Kazakh in Roman script. But the proposal was rejected due to heavy expenses and long periods of time, and it was decided to use it in the Cyrillic script.
